“We Are Not Alone,” is an abstract painting that emulates the flag of Palestine. The deep black, pure white, and emerald green colors of the flag are painted as human forms, and highlighted with gold hues and gold leaf. The center of the work is a vast, yet textured space made of cotton and white gesso, conveying distress and distance. Arms from each color of the flag stretch toward a central, black “guardian” figure painted behind a smaller, child-sized figure with a golden orb. Here, the story conveyed is that each person holds intrinsic value and is supported by a community. The red tones at the base of the flag traditionally symbolize the courageous spirit of the Palestinian people.

The theme of the work represents global solidarity for the end of genocide.
